Spring Cleaning

It is that time of the year when the frost begins to melt, the trees begin to bloom, and the sun starts to peak more and more each day.
Spring is the perfect time for a refresh. Let’s be honest, our homes, wardrobe, and personal care could all use a bit of an overhaul.
That being said, consider this your checklist as we all dive head first into a fresh season and fresh start!
Start with the low-hanging fruit.
Disinfect your phone and electronics! You would be amazed how much bacteria they accumulate - and nobody likes fingerprints!
Empty your backpack, purse, or work bag and get rid of those gum wrappers and random chapsticks. Bonus points for wiping down the inside!
Do the dishes! A clean sink makes the biggest difference to the smell and overall energy of a kitchen.
Do a full surface sweep.
Cluttered surfaces create stress, chaos, and keep us distracted from the task at hand. Put away those kitchen and bathroom items, clear off counters, and give everything a good wipe down.
Ask yourself whether you actually NEED that decorative item, product, or kitchen gadget or does it just take up space?
Don’t forget the nooks and crannies.
Start by emptying drawers, the fridge, pantry, and even the trash can. These spaces are often neglected and have built up bacteria, crumbs, and junk that require a full clean out every once in a while.
Take inventory of what you already own and what you need. Ditch the harsh cleaners and wipe it down with some non-toxic options from Public Goods, Grove, or Branch Basics!
Refill with intention. Decifer what foods nourish, what clothes you actually wear, and decipher what is essential. Let go of the rest and imagine how light you will feel!
Overall personal care.
Wipe down bottles, clean your makeup brushes, and wash your face towels! These are often forgotten items that can wreak havoc on skin and spread bacteria.
Remove hair from your brushes! Yuck!
Clean up your beauty products! Toss or donate products you never use and toss those expired bottles, check ingredient lists, and maybe invest in some non-toxic alternatives (The EWG and Think Dirty app are a great way to look up a product’s level of risk and offers a list of EWG-verified skin, oral, and beauty options)! Side-note: we offer great clean options in our salon ranging from nail care to face serums to balms and creams.
Streamline your wellness routine. Ditch the “extras” and gimmicks and invest in quality over quantity. This can vary from person to person depending on budget and priorities. Some might opt for medical grade skincare while others treat themselves to a nail appointment every other week!
