Wellness Worth the Hype

Interested in achieving optimal health & wellbeing without breaking the bank or driving yourself crazy trying to keep up with every trend on the internet? Wellness practices can actually be really simple! Here you will receive the necessary tools for long-term habit change without the overwhelm.

That being said, let’s explore the latest wellness trends. Consider this an opportunity to try new forms of self-care and determine what works best for you (:

Dry Brushing

The skin is the largest organ of the body and is one of the “acid-elimination organs”. Many acids and toxins can be excreted through skin respiration. A regular supportive brush massage increases the excretion of these toxins.

How to:

  1. Choose a brush. There are a lot online for under $10. Look for a natural bristle that is soft.

  2. Start at your feet. Use long and smooth strokes, and brush toward the heart. This is where the lymph drains. Brush the bottom of your feet and up your legs.

  3. Repeat this process with your arms. Start with the palms of your hands, and brush up your arm toward your heart.

  4. Brush in a circular motion on your stomach and armpits.

  5. Repeat this on your abdomen and back (brushes have long handles).

  6. Roll softly.

Breathwork

Conscious breathing helps to excrete carbonic acid via the lungs, calm the mind, and set intentions for the day. Try three, five, or ten deep breaths, In through the nose, out through the mouth. This is totally free and can have a substantial effect on mood and relaxation.

Clean Beauty

Chemical “skin care” products cause our skin to lose its ability to eliminate acids and toxins. Just the way our skin absorbs everything that is put on it, it also helps release the stored acids and waste products from the predominantly acidic environment of the cells. Investing in clean beauty and skin products free of parabens, sulfates, and harmful chemicals will help reduce oxidative stress.

Nourish from the Inside Out!

Try incorporating antioxidant-rich foods such as berries, dark leafy greens, and spices such as cumin, cinnamon, and turmeric. Avocados, olive oil, and fatty fish such as salmon and sardines contain omega-3 fatty acids that support all bodily functions and healthy skin! Keep in mind that every person has different tastes and preferences, so try what you truly enjoy!

Lastly, go easy on yourself. There is no Immediate fix or short trip to health, so enjoy the ride (:
